Alarm.com and LiftMaster Put Security into the Garage

A lot of you probably think it's a great idea to have a security system—and then you go and leave the garage door open. Alarm.com is hoping to alleviate some of those "did I?" stresses, thanks to a new partnership with LiftMaster.

The new pairing will put LiftMaster's myQ technology into Alarm.com's interactive services platform. That basically means that you'll be able to manage, monitor and control the garage door from anywhere via the Alarm.com mobile app.

Besides being able to check up on yourself, your spouse or anyone with garage access, the app allows subscribers the option to add the garage to the company's Rules Engine. That way, whenever the security system is armed, the garage door will automatically close. Users can also set the service to send out alerts to a cell phone or email address, if the garage is left open for too long.

"Alarm.com is always looking for ways to extend the value of the platform to improve homeowner safety and security. Integrating the industry leading LiftMaster garage door opener technology, myQ, into our current product offerings is a natural extension of home safety and control," said Jay Kenny, Alarm.com's VP of marketing. "It's exciting to bring new innovation to homeowners through our exclusive partnership, making everything connected so you're always in control and aware of what's going on at home."

These integrated capabilities are available now to Alarm.com customers with LiftMaster garage door openers manufactured after 1998. Contact the company for more information about adding the service or this feature.
