Earlier this week, we were talking up Alarm.com's move into the garage. Now, the company is looking to tackle another part of the connected home. Alarm.com' just announced plans to launch energy monitoring into its service offering.
The company's energy monitoring solution will allow Alarm.com subscribers the chance to view their home's energy usage, as well as track energy usage on individual devices. Even better, users can access all of that info right from the Alarm.com website and/or mobile apps.
Alarm.com allows users to track energy usage in kilowatt-hours and actual dollars. That way, homeowners can measure the effects of perks like light schedules, thermostat schedules, location-based thermostat automation, and more.
"Because our underlying security platform is tightly integrated with thermostats, lights, appliances and other home automation devices around the home, Alarm.com has made it easy for consumers to transform energy usage data into actionable changes that reduce energy consumption," said Alison Slavin, vice president of product management, Alarm.com. "Our new energy monitoring solution enhances the Alarm.com mobile app and Web interface by providing an integrated view of energy usage and home activity."
The Alarm.com energy monitoring solution builds on several recently announced offerings, including Geo-Services, solar panel integration, and support for Lutron lights and shades.
Alarm.com plans to make its energy monitoring Solution available to dealers starting this May.
