Alarm.com may have started out as a MicroStrategy business unit, but it's clearly held its own since becoming a standalone company in 2009. Alison, a New Rochelle, N.Y. native, was the brainchild behind the home security company, writing a business plan in 2000 as a MicroStrategy associate after graduating from Harvard. Since then it's grown to 100 employees. Aside from its home monitoring tech products, Alarm.com launched an energy management product last summer that has over 100K users. Alison, 32, spends free time playing soccer for local co-ed and women's leagues, trains for triathlons, and volunteers for a cat rescue organization.
