Alarm.com Announces Support for 3G Networks

Vienna, Virginia – June 2, 2011 – Alarm.com today announced its plan to extend its product offering with the addition of a new 3G version of its GSM communication technology for security control panels from UTC Fire & Security and 2GIG Technologies.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Alarm.com's suite of GSM communication modules enables its industry leading wireless alarm signaling and interactive security solutions, including its patented "Crash and Smash" detection technology and wireless 2-way voice features. Alarm.com also offers an "emPower" version of its GSM modules that enables the company's home automation and energy management services.

Alarm.com first released its GSM communication technology in 2006, and to date Alarm.com authorized dealers have installed well over half a million Alarm.com-enabled GSM modules in homes and businesses throughout North America. These modules use the GPRS protocol (sometimes called "2.5G") to communicate with Alarm.com's network operations centers, and use the GSM voice channel for emergency 2-way voice connections with a central station.

The new 3G module from Alarm.com uses technology that offers data signaling reliability on par with GPRS, but with the added benefit of greater data speeds. The new 3G module from Alarm.com will be available to Alarm.com authorized dealers later this year after comprehensive testing has concluded.

"We are excited to offer our dealers and their customers a 3G version of our communication technology to support the continuous expansion of our interactive applications," stated Alison Slavin, Alarm.com Co-Founder and VP of Product Management. "We continue to view wireless as the most secure, reliable and easy to deploy solution for interactive applications pioneered by Alarm.com and we are committed to delivering the best in industry technology to our dealer partners to support their needs in the future."

Alarm.com will continue to support and offer its GPRS solution to all authorized dealers throughout North America for wireless alarm signaling and interactive services.
