TYSONS, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Security Sales & Integration has announced the winners of the 2024 SSI Most Valuable Product (MVP) Awards. Alarm.com’s Remote Video Monitoring (RVM) Console won in the Central Station/Monitoring category this year, recognizing Alarm.com’s commitment to expanding security through innovations that help prevent crime, speed emergency response, and save lives.

The RVM Console is a powerful system that enables central station operators to offer round-the-clock concierge video monitoring and proactive deterrence services to customers with Alarm.com Video Analytics cameras. When cameras detect a person or vehicle within a restricted area, such as a commercial delivery loading dock after hours, the event is immediately escalated to the monitoring station for review. Operators receive an event alert in their monitoring platform that includes a direct link to the RVM Console. They can then review critical property and event data (including video) and assess the situation in real-time. If a threat is verified, operators can intervene using system hardware onsite to talk down through Alarm.com cameras, manually activate camera warning lights and audio alerts, and dispatch law enforcement as needed.

“Alarm.com is honored to again be recognized as an MVP Award winner, especially for a solution that exemplifies the unique value of the Alarm.com for Business unified platform,” said Brian Lohse, General Manager, Alarm.com for Business. “The RVM Console makes it possible for monitoring stations and service providers to deliver a truly end-to-end solution that’s accessible and practical for the broadest possible market. Whereas typical remote video monitoring solutions require integrating disjointed components, Alarm.com’s unified platform streamlines operations by eliminating the need to install separate gateways and configure multiple software systems.”

The cloud-based RVM Console provides monitoring station operators with rich contextual information about suspicious activity (such as the “Person On-Site Likelihood” indicator) as well as a comprehensive array of deterrence measures. Operators can engage and deter trespassers with Alarm.com hardware that pairs seamlessly with the RVM Console, including camera speakers, flashing lights, and warning sounds. With the customer’s permission, operators can also deploy Property Actions to control and activate system panels, locks, Access Control doors, lights and more.

Examples of the RVM Console in action include:

  • Cost-Effective Virtual Guard Service. A monitoring station provides security for the manager of a regional distribution center who is looking for a cost-effective way to proactively keep watch over multiple access points at night. The customer is offered Remote Video Monitoring Services. Because the customer already has Alarm.com Pro Series Cameras installed, no new hardware or installation is required. When trespassers enter the property one night, the monitoring station receives an alert and can view and engage them via Alarm.com Cameras: “You are trespassing on private property. Leave the premises immediately. The authorities have been notified.” The individuals retreat before they can damage or steal inventory.
  • Proactive Assessment and Deterrence Measures. A stranger enters a backyard when the homeowners are out for the evening and attempts to open the back door. The Alarm.com Floodlight Camera immediately detects a person and escalates the event to a monitoring station operator. The operator uses the RVM Console and Property Actions to turn on the floodlight and better assess the situation. After verifying an intruder, the operator further startles the individual using the camera’s siren and provides a stern warning through the camera speaker. The intruder flees the scene and the home remains secured.
  • False Alarm Reduction. A manager runs a data center where highly sensitive and proprietary information is stored. The Alarm.com cameras installed throughout the building ensure that all servers are protected by round-the-clock monitoring. To prevent unauthorized access, the manager uses Alarm.com to create a virtual restricted zone in front of the door to a high-security room. One night, the system detects a person loitering in the zone after hours and immediately alerts the monitoring station. The operator assesses live video from the camera through the RVM Console and speaks to the individual, who turns out to be an employee who forgot his access badge but can provide the code. The situation is quickly defused without the need for emergency dispatch.

In addition to the RVM Console, Alarm.com is also the recipient of a second 2024 MVP Award for Shooter Detection Systems (SDS) Powered by Alarm.com. The new end-to-end solution from Alarm.com instantly detects gunshots using the SDS gunshot sensor, sends alerts to facilities administrators, and provides first responders with critical information and situational awareness when seconds matter most.

MVP Awards recognize the best technologies, products, and solutions that keep people and properties safe. All entries were judged on innovation, functionality, competitive advantages, and benefits to the installer by industry leaders, along with the editors of SSI.
