Yes—an SVR is a type of network video recorder (NVR). The Alarm.com Stream Video Recorder (ADC-SVR210) records and stores video locally like any NVR, but is designed to work with the Alarm.com platform for remote access and additional features.
On-prem is short for “on-premises” — meaning the recorded video is stored locally at your property, not just in the cloud. With SVR, footage stays on-site, right on the recorder itself.
Continuous recording can help you capture more complete video history, including moments before, during, and after an event. This gives you more context than event-based clips alone.
The Alarm.com SVR210 works with any Alarm.com camera that supports ethernet connection. It also works with Alarm.com Wi-Fi cameras, and, if on a commercial service plan, select third-party cameras.

Not directly. If using Alarm.com or Third-Party Power Over Ethernet (PoE) cameras, the cameras connect through a PoE switch (sold separately), which then plugs into the SVR210. The SVR210 does not have built-in PoE injectors.

The SVR210 comes with a hard drive pre-installed and supports Hard Disk Drives (HDDs) up to 2TB. When storage is full, it automatically records over the oldest footage so you don’t have to manually erase recordings.
